Lesson 1 of 8 · 4 min

Where your brand foundation comes from

Find your project's Brand Foundation and understand that its first draft is scraped from your website and is fully editable.

The first draft is built for you

Open a new project with a website address and the brand foundation is already drafted by the time you look at it. Pinnora reads your live site and derives a starting identity from it: voice and tone, colors, positioning, and imagery. You are editing a draft, not staring at an empty form.

Think of it like a sharp new hire who reads your whole website the night before their first day and shows up with notes. The notes are a real head start. They are also just notes. You keep what is right and correct what is off.

The draft fills in the Brand Identity page for the project, then hands you control. Open each card, read what it found, and fix anything the site led it astray on.

A few things worth knowing early:

  • Brand is project-scoped. Each project keeps its own foundation, so two products in two projects never end up sharing one identity by accident.
  • The website is the source. No site on the project means nothing to read, so you enter the identity by hand instead.
  • Nothing is locked. Voice, colors, logo, typography, and positioning are all editable after the draft lands.

This is not busywork. Pinnora reads this foundation every time it writes copy or renders an image, so the few minutes you spend correcting the draft shape every creative the project makes later. The rest of the chapter walks through each part of the page and how to edit it.
