Research and analysis documents

Produce a research or analysis document and decide when to turn on live web research.

Gather facts from outside

Think of the difference as a scout versus a referee. The research types are the scout: they go out and bring back what is known about a market or a rival. Research summary and Market research pull scattered findings into one structured read. Turn on Live web research and the engine runs a search pass and cites each source URL inline, so every claim is traceable instead of simply asserted.

Take a competitor apart

Competitor teardown is the most used document type in the whole product, and for good reason. It reads your project context and, with live web research on, the open web, then lays out a rival's positioning, offer, and weak points in a fixed structure you can hand straight to a strategist.

Explain what already happened

The analysis types are the referee, ruling on a game that already played out. Win loss analysis explains why deals closed or slipped away. Post mortem writes a root cause account of something that went wrong, with the sequence of events and the fixes. Both read the context filter, so point it at Performance or Full audit when the answer lives in your own data.

Which one to reach for

Reach for a research type when the facts sit outside the project and you want them gathered and cited. Reach for an analysis type when the facts are already yours and you want them read into a decision. Competitor teardown sits in the middle, which is exactly why it is the workhorse: it gathers outside facts and turns them into a judgement in a single pass.
