You bring the face
The most common wrong expectation is that you pick a creator from a menu of AI faces. You do not. The person on camera is someone you hand the tool, and getting that straight now saves confusion later.
Where the person comes from
In the settings column there is a References block with three squares: Person, Product, and Backdrop. They read from your project's active reference pack and its library. The Person square is whatever face you pinned or uploaded. Anything you upload joins the project's corpus, so that same person is on tap for every future clip without uploading again.
When the project has a reference pack, its Person, Product, and Backdrop get attached to the render on their own. That attachment is what keeps a run of clips looking like the same person in the same room instead of a new stranger each take. Think of it like booking one actor for a whole series rather than a different extra in every episode. With no pack set, the block says so and points you to where you build one.
Set the person first
A talking-head clip needs a face, so this kind will not run without an avatar. Set the Person before anything else. Product and backdrop are optional, though they ground the scene and make it feel real. One quiet step happens on its own: your Person image is rebuilt into a character model sheet before it reaches the video model. That is what lets a candid phone snapshot clear the model's input checks while still holding the identity. You never touch that step. You just choose who is on camera.
