Setting up sending in Email Studio

Walk through the setup Email Studio's broadcast send requires: a verified domain, a subscriber list, then a broadcast.

A setup guide, not a tour of live campaigns

Everything below is built and reachable, and none of it has run in production yet. No org has verified a sending domain, and no marketing broadcast has gone out. So read this as how to switch sending on, not as a feature already running. The steps come in a fixed order, and the first one is the gate everything else waits behind.

Step 1: verify a sending domain

Verifying a sending domain is like getting a license plate before you drive: until it is on, broadcasts stay parked. In Email Studio, open the domain wizard, add your domain, and it shows the DNS records you need: SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. You add those records at your DNS provider, then the wizard re-checks until the domain reads verified. DNS can take up to 72 hours to propagate, so start this well before the day you plan to send.

Step 2: build an audience

The Audiences tab is where subscribers, segments, and suppressions live. You import or add subscribers, group them into segments, and keep a suppression list so you never mail someone who opted out. There is no subscriber data here until you put it there.

Step 3: compose and send a broadcast

The Compose tab lists your emails. Send broadcast opens a sheet: name the broadcast, set a from address and a reply-to, and choose the audience, which is All active, a Segment, or Tags. You get a recipient count and a sample before you commit, then you send now or schedule for later. Broadcasts and their status appear under the Broadcasts tab, and Analytics is where results would show once real sends exist.
