Scheduling a post
A post goes out at the time you chose, with the asset you approved.
Scheduling removes the failure mode where good content does not go out because the person who was going to post it was busy.
Steps
- Attach the approved asset, not a work in progress.
- Write the caption in the same pass, because captions written later get rushed.
- Set the time and confirm the timezone.
- Check the queue after scheduling so you know it is really there.
Timezones
The most common scheduling mistake is a post that goes out at the right time in the wrong timezone. Check which timezone the time is in, especially if your team is spread out.
What to watch for
Scheduled posts that fail usually fail quietly. Turn on notifications for publishing failures so you find out at the time rather than at the end of the week.
