Generate one image

The fastest way to learn a generation tool is to make something with it in the first minute, then take it apart. So write one sentence and press generate before you read anything else on the page.

Steps

1. Open the image generator and describe one thing you want to see. One sentence is enough. "A ceramic coffee mug on a kitchen counter in morning light" is a complete brief.
2. Look at the controls that filled in after you typed. Those are the choices the tool made from your sentence.
3. Change one control. Just one. Then generate again.
4. Put the two results next to each other and work out what that control did.

Reading the controls

Every control that filled in was either something you said or a default. If you did not mention lighting, lighting got a default. That is not the tool ignoring you, and it is not a worse result. It just means that part of the image came from somewhere other than your brief, and if you care about it, you now know where to say so.

This is why changing one control at a time matters. Change three and you learn nothing about any of them.

What to watch for

A short brief is not a weak brief. Length is free and it does not cost you anything to write more, but a long brief that repeats itself is not better than a short one that names the two things you actually care about.

If the result is close but wrong in one specific way, change the control that governs that thing rather than rewriting the sentence. Rewriting the sentence changes everything at once.
