Lesson 3 of 4 · 3 min
Access requests
People can ask for access in one click and you can answer in one.
The alternative to access requests is a message to whoever is around, which either gets ignored or gets someone over-promoted to make it stop.
Steps
- Point people at the project they need rather than telling them to ask you.
- Let them send a request from there.
- Review what they asked for, including the level.
- Approve at the level they need, not the level they asked for.
Why the request beats the message
The request carries context: who, what project, what level. A message in a chat does not, and it is not recorded anywhere afterwards.
What to watch for
Turn on notifications for requests. An access request nobody sees is worse than no process, because the person is waiting.
