Lesson 4 of 4 · 5 min
One edit, every placement
One approved asset ships to every aspect ratio without recomposing it by hand.
Every platform wants a different shape, and recomposing an approved asset by hand for each one is where a lot of time goes.
Steps
- Approve the asset in its primary ratio first.
- Convert to the other ratios you need.
- Check that the subject survived the crop in each one.
- Check that any text is still inside the safe area.
What to check per shape
Going from wide to vertical loses the sides, which is where secondary elements usually sit. Going from vertical to wide adds space that has to be filled with something.
What to watch for
Text placed near an edge in one ratio ends up cut or crowded in another. If an asset is going to several shapes, keep text well inside the middle from the start.
