Lesson 2 of 4 · 5 min

Anchoring on the product

The product in the frame is your product, down to the label.

Without a reference you get a plausible product from the right category. That is fine for a mood board and useless for anything a customer will compare against the real thing.

Steps

  1. Attach your reference pack before you generate.
  2. Generate a packshot first, because errors are most visible there.
  3. Zoom in on the label, the shape and the proportions.
  4. If something is wrong, add a reference photo showing that specific angle rather than describing the correction in words.

Why the packshot first

A lifestyle image hides product errors behind depth of field, hands and props. A packshot shows you exactly what the tool thinks your product looks like, which is what you need to know before you commit to a batch.

What to watch for

Text on packaging is the hardest part and the last to come right. If your label has small print, plan to composite it rather than expecting it generated correctly.
